The release date for Drake’s long-awaited Iceman album is currently frozen in a block of ice in downtown Toronto, and the only way to find out when it drops is to wait for it to melt.
On Monday (April 20), Drake posted to his Instagram Story with coordinates pointing to a location in downtown Toronto alongside the message “Release date inside.” The location turned out to be a parking lot adjacent to the Bond Place Hotel at 81 Bond Street, where construction crews had assembled a massive glacier-blue ice structure block by block. With temperatures in Toronto forecast to climb into the 50s by Wednesday (April 22), the countdown to the reveal has already begun.
The stunt is the latest and most theatrical chapter in a rollout that has been building for nearly a year. On April 12, Drake’s courtside seats at Scotiabank Arena were encased in blocks of ice ahead of a Toronto Raptors game, prompting the Raptors’ official X account to post “Drake’s seats froze.” Days later, on April 17, a controlled pyrotechnic explosion near Toronto’s Downsview Airport alarmed residents before being confirmed as part of a music video shoot tied to the Icemancampaign. Downsview Park management issued a public apology to nearby residents after the post-10 p.m. explosion generated widespread alarm. On April 19, Drake posted an image of himself stacking ice blocks with the caption “Its in,” which fans immediately read as confirmation that the album had been delivered to his label.
The Iceman rollout has been a masterclass in slow-burn anticipation. Drake began teasing the project in 2025 through a series of livestream episodes, including previews of tracks like lead single “What Did I Miss?”, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remains the last top 10 hit from a rapper, as well as “Which One” featuring Central Cee and “Dog House” featuring YEAT and Julia Wolf. He also teased the album during a video appearance at the Juno Awards while honoring Nelly Furtado, saying directly: “Iceman coming soon.”
